Becket Arts Center—Mosaics, Plants, Theatre & More

The days are getting longer, and the Becket Arts Center has so much to offer in May! We welcome the New England Mosaic Society Member Show to our gallery with an opening reception on May 2 (on display through May 25), and Isabel Margolin speaks about creating mosaics for our Speaker Series on May 8.
Enjoy a reading of Yasmina Reza’s provocative comedy Art on May 17 (at 2 & 7pm), featuring Paula Langton, Mary Budzn, and Elaine Vaan Hogue; proceeds will benefit our theatre program. Plants take center stage on May 18 with Eco Printing with Plants and on May 24 with Transcending Roots Herbal Medicine Workshop. Plus, don’t miss Class 3 in the Art of Whiskey Tasting with Colin Goundrey on May 15 and American Artists in the Civil War on May 21. You can always find the latest events online at BecketArtsCenter.org/events.
Athenaeum Presents Author Dr. Matthew Camp & Crafting for Teens

Come to the library lawn on May 24 at 6pm for Tend: Exploring Mindful-Driven Advocacy Fireside Book Discussion. In this interactive book discussion and workshop, local author Dr. Matthew Camp will draw from chapters of his book to explore the field of mindful-driven advocacy. Participants will help build and light a fire. Pulling from experiences in the wilderness, yoga, meditation, and two decades in politics, Dr. Camp approaches the often stern worlds of Zen and politics with a lightheartedness that allows readers and participants to steadily deepen their engagement.
Local teens! Join us at the library on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at 5:30pm for a quiet evening of crafting and connection. (And pizza!) Bring your own project, or enjoy a provided craft, and hang out with your friends while making new ones.
