Key approvals included funding for Leonhardt Road reconstruction and a temporary six-month moratorium on certain industrial solar installations. Updated regulations for ADUs were adopted, reflecting state mandates.

The Becket Highway Department has added four new staff members, including Interim Highway Superintendent Bill Elovirta, bringing the team to seven, with one mechanic position still open.

The Central Berkshire Regional School District Committee is seeking a representative from Becket to fill a vacancy. Any Becket resident who is a registered voter may apply for appointment to serve the remainder of the term, which will expire in November 2028. In accordance with the District Committee Agreement, vacancies are filled by a vote

The Town Forum, themed “Building a Stronger Community,” will take place on May 4th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Becket Washington School. Organized by seven local organizations, it aims to inform residents about local needs and resources. Legislators will discuss infrastructure funding, and details about potential school closure will be shared.

The Becket Select Board passed a resolution affirming constitutional governance and equal treatment for residents, reaffirming existing laws rather than creating new ones. Authored by resident Amy Attias, it addresses community concerns about governance roles. While most members supported it, Vice Chair Bill Elovirta deemed it unnecessary, citing existing guidelines.

Becket Country Store owner Ryan Eley plans a significant expansion to enhance goods and services for residents and visitors. The project will nearly double retail space, include a greenhouse, install fuel pumps, and introduce sustainability measures like solar panels and EV charging stations. Planning Board approval is pending for construction to start in 2027.

The Becket Congregational Church Ladies Guild is hosting a Turkey Dinner on April 11. The Becket Arts Center offers creative and wellness activities throughout April, including workshops and performances. The Athenaeum celebrates National Poetry Month with activities and a documentary screening promoting joy in libraries.
