The Becket Beat Submission Guidelines
- All articles, photos and calendar listings must be received by the 15th of the month prior to publication.
- All materials submitted are for consideration only. A submission does not guarantee publication.
- Articles need to be submitted as Word or Google documents. PDFs or other file formats will not be accepted.
- Articles should be approximately 650 words or less, be written objectively and without political commentary.
- Articles should not include styling such as all caps, boldface, italic, underlines or tabs of any kind. Styling of documents is done by our designer during the layout process to best advantage.
- Please do not embed a photo, artwork or logo in the article. The layout design team will insert the photo(s) where appropriate.
- Photos or artwork should be sent as a .jpg file attached to an email.
- Resolution of photos or artwork should be 300 dpi. If you are sending a photo from an iPhone please be aware that an iPhone will automatically send a photograph via email in the lowest resolution. You have to manually tell it to send the original image and not the low res.
- Photos must include photo credit (and that you either own the rights to the photo or have permission to use the photo) and a proposed caption.
- Calendar submissions should include the title of the event, the date and time of the event, the location of the event, a one sentence description of the event and a contact for more information. If this is a recurring event, please indicate the frequency – weekly, monthly, bi-monthly etc.
