May marks the third anniversary of the Becket Beat. From the get-go the Beat has been a one-hundred-percent volunteer effort that aims to be your source of news for all things Becket. To that end we can always use fresh perspectives and are looking for writers—both on the team and outside writers who want to contribute occasionally. In this issue we have summarized the warrant articles that will be put to vote at the Town Meeting on May 10th and included the list of candidates running in the Town Election on May 17th, among other things. There are subjects up for consideration that you might feel strongly about, whatever your position. Annual town meetings, where citizens vote on a myriad of articles, only occur in New England and a few western states; it is an opportunity to let your vote be your voice through this form of participatory governance.
