Becket Arts Center – Singing, Dancing, Music & More This Summer

Things are heating up at the Becket Arts Center this July and there’s something for everyone to enjoy! The talented Paula Langton hosts “The Art of Voice” a weekly community summer sing-along on Wednesdays from 4-6, Creative Modern Dance returns on Fridays from 10-11 and we screen the documentary Hello, Bookstore featuring Matt Tannenbaum on July 10. Plus, don’t miss our annual Garden Tour on July 12 and the final installment of The Art of Whiskey Tasting on July 15.

Our Music Brings Communities Together series continues July 12th and 26th with Chantell & Friends and then The Wanda Houston Band; we welcome back the Demler twins for their genre-bending musical My Evil Twin on July 18 and host a decoupage workshop on July 24.

You can always find the latest events online at BecketArtsCenter.org/events.

Level Up at the Becket Athenaeum This Summer

With the Summer Reading theme of “Level Up at Your Library,” the Becket Athenaeum has a great line-up of events to bring patrons of all ages to the next level! Join us for two 4pm Family Movie showings: A Minecraft Movie on July 13 and The Wild Robot on August 1. On July 19 at 10:30am, we welcome back Parents’ Choice Award winning singer and storyteller, Davis Bates for a morning of songs, stories, and a mini lesson on how to play the spoons. On July 21, carpenter (and Becket Athenaeum Program Coordinator) Kate Hubbell will give a “Level Up Your Tool Comfort” workshop for older teens (ages 15+) and adults looking for a safe space to learn about some basic power tools and gain confidence using them (registration required). On July 26, Dungeon Master Kim DiLego will lead an intro to Dungeons & Dragons with a fun “one-shot” adventure for anyone 9 years old and up (registration required). In addition, the Athenaeum is now utilizing Beanstack, a new online reading tracker for all ages. Help us reach the community goal of 100 hours, earn prizes along the way, and be entered to win local gift cards when you reach your own goal. More info on our website: bwlibrary.org/summer
